Daily Deals: Mario Red Nintendo Switch OLED, Sonos Speakers, Lenovo Legion Gaming PCs

Aug 04, 2023

As we gear up for Labor Day weekend, quite a few deals are coming through. The deals for Thursday, August 31 include a brand new Nintendo Switch OLED themed console that's up for preorder, the popular Sonos One smart bookshelf speakers, super high end Lenovo Legion gaming PCs and laptops, a shimmery Xbox Series X controller, a Secretlab gaming chair sale, and more.

Best Buy has opened up preorders for the Mario Red Nintendo Switch OLED console. Like its namesake suggests, this is one red Switch. The Joy-Cons are red, the back of the Switch OLED case is red, and the dock is red. You won't have to wait too long to receive yours... these consoles will ship out in early October.

Comes with full warranty

As part of its Labor Day Sale, Sonos is offering discounts on their factory refurbished Sonos One and Sonos One SL bookshelf speakers. The Sonos One is a small standalone powered speaker that pumps out great sound for its small footprint. The Sonos One has a built-in microphone so it can entirely replace your Amazon Echo or Google Home device as your primary voice assistant. The sound quality is infinitely better than most Echo options (the more expensive Studio being the exception). You are also not limited to using Amazon Music of Spotify. For example, the Sonos One works very well with Apple Music over Airplay.

The "SL" in the Sonos Arc SL means "silence", and that's because the only difference is the lack of a microphone. The SL removes the mic for people who are worried about Alexa or Google Assistant inadvertantly listening in on conversation. That means, however, the Sonos One SL itself cannot receive voice commands, however that is solvable by using another smart device that does. If you want a stereo setup, you could buy one Sonos One and one Sonos One SL. Having two voice activated speakers in the same room is unnecessary.

As part of its Labor Day Sale event, Lenovo is offering a Lenovo Legion Tower 7i Gen 8 RTX 4080 gaming PC for only $1943.99 after a new 10% off coupon code: "INTELGAMERDAYS23". That's one of the lowest prices we've seen for a prebuilt RTX 4080 gaming PC, even outside of the Lenvo Legion brand. The RTX 4080 is the second most powerful card on the market and a considerable step up in performance over the 4070 Ti. This (or the 4090) is the card you want for 4K gaming without any restrictions. On the AMD front, only the Radeon RX 7900 XTX can keep up (and that's if you ignore DLSS and ray tracing). It's much more powerful than previous generation cards, performing about 50% faster than an RTX 3080 Ti. It's actually only 20%-30% slower than the RTX 4090 (and you'll really only feel the difference in 4k) while costing hundreds of dollars less. Check out our RTX 4080 review.

Lenovo also has this monstrously powerful Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 8 RTX 4090 gaming laptop for only $2511 after a 10% off coupon code "INTELGAMERDAYS23". This is one of the best prices we've seen for any RTX 4090 equipped gaming laptop. The RTX 4090 makes high end gaming on a laptop possible. The RTX 4090 is the most powerful mobile GPU ever, and by a huge margin. It's roughly equivalent to a desktop RTX 3090 GPU. That means this GPU is capable of 4K gaming. Since the display is QHD+ instead of 4K, there should be ample headroom to run max settings and even ray tracing enabled while maintaining comfortable fps.

Today Amazon is offering the official Xbox Series X|S Core wireless controller in Stellar Shift for only $49.99. That's almost 30% off the original $69.99 MSRP. Aside from the difference in color scheme, this is the same controller as the one that's included with your Xbox Series X or S console. Stellar Shift is a color-shifting, blue-purple pearlescent shimmer that, in my opinion, looks better than most of the other Xbox color schemes out there. It also features a rubberized purple swirl grip that has different pattern varations among each individual controller.

Secretlab is kicking off its Secretlab Labor Day Sale with up to $150 in discounts on their most popular gaming chairs and gaming desks. The breakdown is as follows:

The TITAN Evo starts at $519 during the sale. This is Secretlab's latest flagship chair and it's available in Small, Medium, and Large sizes. It comes standard with Neo Hybrid Leatherette, which is easy to clean and considerably more durable than the commonly used PU leather. You can also upgrade to either SoftWeave Plus fabric or premium NAPA leather. Every TITAN Evo chair features a sculpted base with plush cold-cure foam upholstery, a supportive 4-way lumbar system, a full length backrest with 165 degrees of recline, full metal 4D armrests with magnetically attached PU cushions (can be upgraded to gel or memory foam), and a magnetically attached memory foam headrest pillow.

Amazon currently has a TEAMGROUP 1TB Micro SDXC card for only $52.49. That's far and away one of the east expensive 1TB Micro SDXC cards we've seen, and it's fully compatible with the Nintendo Switch. If you've started compiling a collection of digital games, you probably already know just how limited the Switch's base storage capacity. The Switch and Switch OLED consoles have 32GB and 64GB of internal storage, respectively, with some of it reserved for the OS. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom uses up 16GB and Breath of the Wild about 13.5GB. If bought digitally, those two games alone would take up all of your internal storage on the OG Switch console. There's only one expansion slot in the Switch console so you want to make sure you get the biggest card you can afford.

Amazon is offering a really cool Anker Transformers: Optimus Prime themed 10,000mAh Power Bank and 65W Wall Charger Hybrid for $69.99 after a $30 coupon that you can clip on the product page. If you're looking for an all-in-one solution for both when you're at home and when you roll out, and you want it in an attractive design, this is most definitely the device you're looking for. The Anker device itself is certainly more than meets the eye. This is a power bank and wall charger in one. What that means is that there's a 10,000mAh battery pack to charge your mobile devices when you roll out. However, it can also transform into a fast charging AC adapter so you can switch to using grid power whenever it's available.

Today Amazon is offering a 2TB WD Black SN850X PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD for only $99.99. That's the best price we've seen since Amazon Prime Day. This SSD would make an exceptional (if not overkill) storage expansion drive for your PS5 console or as a blazing fast boot drive for your next gaming rig. The SN850X is the latest generation of WD's flagship Black series M.2 SSDs. It's easily one of the fastest SSDs on the market and other similar performing SSDs currently sell for about $150. The SN850X's upgrades over the SN850 include newer flash chips (BiCS5 vs BiCS4) and an updated firmware, both of which offer improved sequential and random read/write speeds

Amazon is offering the OVIO PS5 Dual Controller Charging Station for a mere $9.99 after you (1) clip a 20% off coupon on the product page and (2) redeem a 40% off code "A9N9H4C4". This charging station normally costs $24.99, so you're saving a pretty massive 60% off for one of the most highly rated PS5 controller charging stations (by number of reviews) on Amazon.

The Anker PowerCore Slim 313 is one of the slimmest 10,000mAh power banks around. It's almost the exact same dimensions as an iPhone 14 (only 0.2" thicker). There are three types of connections, but it's important to understand which is input and which is output. USB Type-C and Micro USB are INPUT only, which means that you use either of these ports to charge the power bank itself. USB Type-A is OUTPUT only, which means this is the port that you use to charge your other devices. It's capable of delivering up to 12W of charge using Anker's PowerIQ and VoltageBoost technologies.

The Silicon Power XS70 SSD with a preinstalled robust aluminum heatsink costs well under $100. The aluminum heatsink is still slim enough to fit in the PS5 without obstruction. It boasts transfer speeds of up to 7300MB/s read and 6800MB/s write, comfortably faster than the 5500MB/s minimum recommended requirement. It actually performs a little better than the Crucial P5 Plus, the original WD Black SN850, and the Samsung 980 Pro, although that won't make a difference in your PS5.
